Reasons to Invest

•  The favorable macro-economic conditions and growth forecast of the electric energy market reflect strengths that allow for implementing electrification projects that will provide users more access to power and improve families’ well-being.
• Increasing demand for power and implementation of electric infrastructure projects in the country by the state are factors that favor investment in the electric sector.
• Total investment executed in the electric sector in 2007 was US$ 591.2 million. Said amount was larger by 23% as compared to 2006. These investments were executed by generation, transmission, distribution concessionaire companies with 47%, 12% and 26% of the total, respectively. The remaining 15% corresponds to investments made by the project executive directorate, a State-Executing body of studies and rural electrification works.
• According to the information provided by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, in 2007 investments made by private companies in the generation, transmission and distribution stages reached US$ 503.5 million, an amount higher by 13% to that in 2006.
•  Domestic electric market demand at the National Interconnected System (SEIN) in July 2008 was 4039.7 MW. This demand represents an increase of 8.5% as compared to the same period in 2007. 
•  Government promotes investment in the energy sector at different generation, transmission, distribution and marketing of electricity stages. The Ministry of Energy and Mines, the organ in charge of the sector, has commissioned PROINVERSION to grant in concession the most important projects.
